Didn't know I am that attached, but had tears of joy when Obama's landslide victory was sure. Seems The States now have a president representing many positive ideas foreigners have about that nation. Let's see how this event inspires people: They can? No, we can!

What is it with Europeans caring who won the American election? I couldn't give a flying f*ck, personally. What is it that people think is suddenly going to change, just because a middle-aged slightly-black guy is taking older from a slightly-older white guy? And why would anyone outside the US care either way?
@Bored: Well, there are very different kinds of people. Some are open minded, same are conservative, others are just blunt. No idea were you see yourself.
George W. Bush seems to be an extremly conservative and arrogant person. His era was very irritating even for friends of the US.
McCain seemed to be a different kind of Republican, until he started his hate tirades. How can an American veteran, an American patriot behave that un-American? Also very irritating. Seriously, what's up with those Republican dickheads? Do they forget to take their drugs?
Barak Obama on the opposite appears as thinking, well-behaved and educated person, living the American Dream. In opposition to his predecessor he seems to believe in values like freedom and balance. I used to believe that those values are very essential for US Americans. His predecessor, but also McCain raise doubt about this.
So you still fail to see why Europeans are excited about Barak Obama? Well, it is so simple. We really just hope that the American Dream, the American Way of Live still is alive. Everything else would be very depressing. Even more depressing would be to learn, that not the Obambas, but the Bushs and McCains make up today's American Way of Live.
